Darin Tillinghast Project 1

Ok so I did the whole project wrong. I did each segment as if it were a separate piece. I’m not rewriting this whole story. I used pieces of most everything I did and modified it all and added a few things to come up with a quick fix. Here is my crazy design on the spur of the moment…I wanted to cry when I saw what other people did and realized I spent days going the wrong way!

a. My three shapes we used in class, the first is the oval the

Shape for the fill I used the linear then I choose the Snap to Objects icon to choose a fill and stroke of Dashed to the edge. The second is the drawing object also a linear fill I used a hatched yellow around the object. The third is a rectangle primitive same fill I used a blue dashed fill and stroke. On all of them I used the stroke dial to make the frames wider. Then I used a fill type of radial and made the shape again.

b. Pen tool was so difficult and frustrating, im not so good at using the pen tool, however I made this heart and then used the paint bucket tool to fill it and it looks OK. I used the sub selection tool to pull the heart out and shape it after I drew it with the pen tool.

c. I used Poor Richard for the "surfs up in" then switched to Show card Gothic for the Hawaii. I used the “break apart” to move one of the I’s of Hawaii so I could refit on the same line. I could probably do the same thing with the shift key and the arrows increases or decrease the letter spacing. I realized I can kern these letters by holding down the shift ctrl and alt key while using the left and right arrow keys to move my letters in or out from each other. I highlighted these to move them. I can also move just one or two letters by clicking next to that letter and use the same keys to move just one letter. I tried to use the linear tool for color on the Hawaii however I was unable to do so and very frustrated that it seems not to be an option I wanted the text colors can have that multi colored look. ;( I found that if I use Control B twice it will break apart the text and they are now a raw shape that I can change the colors once it’s an editable shape. Then I can use the linear or radial colors that I originally wanted to use. I had fun with the text fonts and colors and moving the text around and felt the most comfortable with this process.

d. My earth gradient objects I transformed to have a shadow on the one side. The hexadecimal color used #00FF00

e. Pencil used straighten setting .10 second one 11.70. Normal scale, cap and join round. I used the brush tool to make mountains. I used the over tool to add a blue moon and little ovals to make a design.

f. Deco tool I made a star and the pattern, it worked perfect, however I am having difficulty repeating my steps with this. Once I save the creation to my library I can’t seem to find it again.

g. I used the rectangle tool, stippled the boarder increased the stroke to 15.55, then I went to modify rotate and skew and moved the object parallel, then back to transform and used envelope to create a bow then I flipped it and now it’s a martini glass figure.
