Jessica Hirsch: Project 4

Tutorials:
The tutorials were a huge help to me. I waited until the last minute to start this project because I didn't have any idea of what I was going to do this time around. I had to look at the grass tutorial and the IK tutorials again to remember how to use those tools in my project.

How I completed the project: Well, this time I decided to give myself a break and try to keep it a little bit more simplistic this time. :P Here's what I did:
  • I imported the bitmap image and traced it to make it into the background for the movie.
  • My IK animation using symbols linked together is the palm tree that I drew.
  • My "new symbol in a movie clip" animation is the steam coming from the geyser.
  • The sound I used was from freesound.org and is the jungle-theme that you hear playing in the background during the length of the movie. I wound up using Audacity to clip the part of the sound file I wanted (it was originally three minutes long) and it worked great!
  • My watermark is in the bottom right-hand corner of the stage.
  • Oh and I added a fruit falling from the background tree, just for fun.
This was a pretty fun project, but I have to admit...while using the bone tool my brand new computer was lagging hard after every bone was added or moved around - and if I ever mistakenly clicked on the background - oh boy. I had to get up and walk away for minutes at a time while the computer just sat there and thought about what it was trying to do. It was pretty frustrating at times. :/

  1. I was going to make the same comment about waiting and waiting after each minor tweek of the shape IK.... makes me not want to use them.

  2. I totally agree! I couldn't believe how long it took after every bone for the computer to think about what it was doing. I know I have enough RAM and my computer is powerful enough to handle it, but I have no idea what the problem was with that tool. :(
